In addition, the conference changed its traditional location in Gurzuf of the southern coast to Mykolaivka (the western coast of the peninsula) and took place at the departmental recreation center "Emerald" under the auspices of leading Ukrainian scientific and industrial organizations related to Earth sciences and the oil and gas industry, as well as .under the sponsorship of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE). Dr. Helmut Gartner (Germany), a representative of the Communications and Membership Department, welcomed the conference attendees on behalf of EAGE.
The conference presented a new tectonic map of the southern region of Ukraine based on actual geodynamics, results of geochemical surveys for hydrocarbon searches on the South Kerch shelf, analysis of the results of regional geological and geophysical studies of the south of Ukraine. A number of reports comprehensively highlighted the current state of the study of methane hydrates and their possible future production.
