Barcelona as a meeting place for European Geophysicists

A New Spring for Geoscience is a motto of the 72nd Conference and Exhibition of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) taking part on 14 -17 June 2010 in Barcelona, Spain. The conference was attended by over 5500 delegates. Over 300 companies from around the world were represented at the exhibition (covering an area of over 8000 square meters). The main sponsors of the conference were the Spanish companies gasNatural, Repsol and Cespa, as well as the Kuwaiti oil company, ExxonMobil and Shell. Wi-Fi and an Internet cafe were sponsored by Weatherford. Ukraine was represented by the Ukrainian Association of Geologists (UAG) and the All-Ukrainian Association of Geoinformatics (AUAG).

International Symposium in Sambia reveals Secrets of Amber

The International Symposium on Amber Production and Processing in Sambia was held on May 12-14. The symposium was attended by about one hundred scientists from Belarus, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. All participants are leading experts, professionals in the field of geology, mineralogy and paleogeography of fossil resins, biological inclusions in amber, art processing and aesthetics of sunstone, history of amber production and archeological findings of amber products.

In late November - early December 2009, Ukrainian geologists - members of the Ukrainian Association of Geologists visited Poland at the invitation of the State Geological Institute. The purpose of the trip was to discuss the contemporary problems of the study of saline formations conducted by scientists of the State Geological Institute of Poland, the Mining and Metallurgical Academy in Krakow, the Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS of Ukraine, and to obtain primary geological information.
