For the 36th time, geologists from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden will gather for the biennial Nordic Geological Winter Meeting. The meeting comes ‘back’ to Gothenburg where the very first NGWM was held in 1954

The NGWM continues to be an important venue for earth scientists across Norden to meet, interact and share current research. The meeting will consist of three days of open general sessions covering all aspects of geosciences along with special sessions on designated topics. Although the NGWM has traditionally been a forum for academics, geologists in industry as well as students are encouraged to attend. The motto of this conference “Geology for Society” highlights the willing to respond to an increased attention in the public space for the Earth sciences. Topics such as critical raw materials, shortage of groundwater, renewable energy and climate change throughout Earth history are particularly relevant. However, a wide selection of scientific sessions is offered, ranging from the deep oceans to outer space.
