In light of the global energy transition, the AAPG Europe Regional Conference, co-hosted by the Polish Geological Society and Ing Pan, aims to deepen our understanding of mature European basin units, expanding beyond hydrocarbons to encompass geothermal energy, carbon capture, hydrogen exploration, and storage, with special sessions featuring European case studies and global contributions. Despite the shift from the originally planned location in Lviv due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the conference in Krakow in early summer 2024 is anticipated to facilitate Ukrainian colleagues' attendance, focusing on the broader East European Craton and incorporating sessions on petroleum systems elements, including salt tectonics, clastic and carbonate reservoirs, and structural geology. Specialized sessions on thrust-fold belts, fault reactivation, and inversion tectonics will provide comprehensive insights into geological aspects.
